About Jeffrey Smith

Jeffrey Smith has been putting in work behind the decks for over two decades. Like many DJs, he had friends who were into producing music and DJing which helped stir his inspiration.

This prompted him to begin collecting home music production equipment. Soon he was recording and producing original hip hop using some basic music production gear including an 8 track tape recorder.

Soon after, he discovered electronic dance music. He knew the next logical step was to acquire turntables. So he started off with some low end plastic, belt driven Numarks and a basic two channel mixer.

After annoying his roommates for a couple of months with regular train wrecking, he eventually learned beat matching and things began to fall into place.

His progression was similar to many DJs. He started collecting better equipment, building a record collection and taking things more seriously.

He started playing house parties, helping throw small events in his local area of Southern Oregon and soon after started traveling out of town for bookings.

He found himself exploring various genres of music over the years. Starting out with hip hop and trance, he then progressed to drum and bass and techno. Eventually he became enthralled with different types of house music and has been focusing on it ever since.

Over his decade and a half behind the decks, he has been privileged to share the stage with artists such as The Crystal Method, Mark Farina, Richard “Humpty” Vission, Hive, SPL, George Acosta, DJ Shiftee, Protoculture, DJ Swamp, Bjorn Ackesson, Ben Gold, Nick G, Mark Sherry, Indecent Noise and various other accomplished artists.

After a couple years spent in central California, working with the largest production company in the state’s Central Valley, he is back in Southern Oregon ready to offer some of the wisdom, experience and inspiration he has developed over the years.

2017 was a busy year for him. He founded Sounderground, originally an underground private club in Ashland, Oregon and now production company of other larger events in the area. He also partnered with Silent Movement International, an Ashland, OR based non-profit that hosts Silent Discos in a local park and donates all of the revenue to local non-profits and community projects.

He has recently obtained an Ableton Live Music Production Certificate from Point Blank Music School and is now very focused on producing original music. He has also adopted brand and advertising music production with sync licensing projects. Visit his advertising and brand music website here: Jeffrey Smith Ad Music

For the amount of passion, dedication and creativity he puts into everything he does, his tracks will be sure to energize dancefloors around the globe.

His endless flow of creativity and motivation has him seeking bookings at larger festivals, to book a tour, to release original music and to collaborate on tracks with established producers.
